Head Strength Plus: Supporting Minds, Enriching Lives.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness can enhance mental health and support making changes in a person’s life. It can quieten the mind, help with feeling less stressed, less tired, and gain a deeper sense of well-being.

Our groups enable people to learn and implement mindfulness meditation practice into their daily lives.

The programs include guided meditations, psychoeducation, gentle movement and stretches, meaningful discussions, opportunities to look at habits and make some positive adjustments.

Regular mindfulness practice has been found to:

  • Decrease anxiety, depression, and irritability
  • Protect against the harmful effects of stress on mental health
  • Be effective in helping people manage symptoms of illness, and to live more fully despite illness
  • Reduce emotional distress and increase quality of life and wellbeing
  • Lessen feelings of loneliness
  • Have a protective effect on cognitive ageing
  • Improve sleep quality
